Around 7:30 p.m. of November 16, 2009 I proudly declared to my husband Ryan, “I was swimming!”. It’s such a wonderful feeling to accomplish something that I thought would never be possible and something totally out of my comfort zone. Really, I’m not joking. That’s how I felt before about swimming. It was uncomfortable to me.. If I learned how to swim, I would have to wear bathing suits and no way was I going to wear a bathing suit. Even swimming shorts were a no-no for me! These things equaled discomfort and I was not going to put myself in that situation. No, thank you.
Then three weeks ago… I felt like I needed a change in my life. I needed to do something or learn something. I just wanted to get out of my comfort zone. I was getting bored… So I started doing some deep thinking on what I wanted to learn. I knew it needed to be towards physical fitness… so I started mentally making a list of things I wanted to accomplish and swimming was on the top of the list.
I started searching for classes… but decided a private instructor was the ideal way to go. I didn’t want to be around too many people and I wanted Ryan and I to have more time with the instructor. The more time we have, the faster we learn! We found Karen Chow who is an awesome instructor! After my third lesson with her, I actually started to swim! It was so exciting and I’m so happy!
We just got home from our 4th lesson today and we have one more lesson with her on Friday! I pretty much need to still practice swimming forward and then transitioning to my back… but I still haven’t figured that out yet… Oh well.. one of these days, I’m going to figure it out! But for now, I’m just really happy I’ve accomplished something new!

This is totally unrelated but because photos makes blogs more appealing… Here’s a teaser from an engagement session Ryan and I did on Saturday.
Pictured below is my uncle and his soon-to-be bride Jeselle. :o) More photos to come shortly.
